The number four overall pick had a few tackles against Los Angeles, including one for a loss. He looked solid against the reigning NFC Champions, even if it came at the expense of the Rams’ second unit. But if you ask the rookie himself, he’ll say that he was decent by his own standards.

“I left a lot of money on the table…I feel like it was OK. I didn’t have a lot of mental errors or things like that so I feel like it was a good day. The best part about it is I have a lot, a lot, a lot of room to grow so I’m excited.” Preseason Week 2 against Arizona is another opportunity to work towards the growth that Ferrell mentioned.

Though he was drafted fourth overall, expectations shouldn’t be that he’s an elite rusher out the gate. But consistent growth and development are key in order to help this pass rush improve overall. Look for Clelin Ferrell to flash a little more of his potential Thursday night.
