Oakland Raiders: Week 1 53-man roster projection v.3
By Sanjit T.
Special Teams (3): Daniel Carlson, AJ Cole, Andrew DePaola
One of the special teams battles is over, as Johnny Townsend was cut by the team last week, and A.J. Cole was given the punting job. Aside from him, Daniel Carlson and Andrew DePaola should be the Raiders kicker and snapper. The two have been proving it in camp.
At the return man position, we have Dwayne Harris, who is known as a very dangerous kick returner. Given the change, he can take any kick to the house. A player to keep an eye on is De’Mornay Pierson-El. He might not make the team this year, but the shifty receiver might make a different team or come back next year for a shot at returning.
Overall, it is going to be very hard for Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock to cut this roster down to the required 53-man list for Week 1. Remember, a team has to put seven players on the inactive list prior to the game, which means only the top 46 will suit up each week. Fortunately for the Raiders, they have a lot of depth in 2019.
