The Oakland Raiders inch closer to the regular season, but first they will head to Winnipeg, Canada to take on the Green Bay Packers for another preseason showdown.
The Oakland Raiders have gotten off to a hot start, winning their first two preseason games. In their first look at live action they beat the reigning NFC champion Los Angeles Rams. Then following that up with a win in week 2 over the Arizona Cardinals.
Last week was the first time the starters took the field, and they looked sharp, marching right through the Cardinals defense. Though, the majority of last week’s game still remained a high dose of rookies and reserves eating up a bunch of the snaps. Overall, the Raiders finished off their second preseason game on a positive note, and finished with a final score of 33-26.
Jon Gruden’s Raiders will now head to Winnipeg, Canada, where they’ll play their first NFL game north of the boarder. This game will also put the Raiders in the record books as the first team to play a game in three different countries during a single-season. They’ll also head to London for their week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears.
Gruden has already seen his core group of starters this preseason, and they looked up to speed to say the least. At this point, why risk more injures to the key players by playing them in a meaningless game?
Gruden told reporters on Saturday, that he doesn’t believe many of the starters will play much this week, if at all during the remainder of the preseason.
