Darren Waller is on track to have a prominent role

Once pro-bowl tight end Jared Cook tested the free-agent market and eventually signing with the New Orleans Saints, the Raiders were forced to look elsewhere for tight end production.

The Raiders current 90-man roster consists of six tight ends, all whom have never taken on a significant role in an NFL offense. Jon Gruden has now looked towards Darren Waller to fill the large shoes that Cook left.

Waller has stepped up to the plate, and hasn’t looked back. In episode three, HBO showed a clip of the Madden video game adjusters asking players who’s the most undervalued player out here? Multiple guys on the team said, “Darren Waller.”

During the episode Waller also told a brief background about himself and what his road to the Raiders has been like. He’s now been two years sober-free, but throughout his time with the Baltimore Ravens, Waller struggled staying away from drugs.

He’s now revitalized his young career and finds himself with a great opportunity to be a huge contributor in Jon Gruden’s offense. Waller’s still learning certain concepts at tight end, as he’s a former wide receiver. Though, in the early stages of his growth, it appears he can be a dangerous weapon catching passes from the tight end position.
