The Oakland Raiders went north of the border to take on the Green Bay Packers at IG Field in Winnipeg, Manitoba on Thursday night.

The Oakland Raiders traveled to Canada to take on the Green Bay Packers for their third preseason game, and ended up winning on a field goal by star kicker Daniel Carlson. Before the game even started, there were issues that were so odd that they could only happen in a Raiders game. Due to the goal posts being removed on the Canadian football field, there was a hole in the end zone.

The Raiders and Packers would play in a game with a field that was only 80 yards and with no kick-offs, but that would not stop the Raiders from implementing their game plan against the Packers.

Mike Glennon would be the first to take a snap for Oakland, but could not get much going for the team. Glennon would not lead the team to the end zone a single time, despite a short field to work with. He would finish 4/9 for just 38 yards, throwing a couple of balls that could have easily been intercepted.

The Raiders found the end zone just one time in the first half on a drive that would be Nathan Peterman‘s first of the day. Peterman would find Keith Smith on a short pass to the end zone, but outside of that, the Raiders offense was flat for the first half of the game.

The Raiders defense did not perform poorly overall in the first half, but a handful of blown coverages from Nick Nelson would help the Packers find the end zone multiple times, and take a 21-10 lead heading into half time.

The Raiders came out stronger in the second half, with Daniel Carlson kicking a field goal early on to make the score 21-13. The second half of the game would feature more standout players than in the previous half, as wide receivers Keelan Doss (4 catches 52 yards), Rico Gafford (4 catches 31 yards), and De’Mornay Pierson-El (6 catches 48 yards) would show out for Peterman when he needed them.

After PJ Hall and Nicholas Morrow each recorded a sack, the Packers offense appeared to be finished. Peterman would lead the offense onto the field, finding Doss, who made a spectacular catch, for a huge gain, followed by finding Pierson-El in the back off the end zone shortly after.

The Raiders would go for two to try and tie the game, but the ball would be tipped into the air and intercepted. Luckily, the Raiders would get a stop, and Peterman would have one more chance to win the game.

The Packers sent the house at Peterman multiple times, but he continued to make plays, get the Raiders into field goal range, and let Carlson knock in his third field goal of the game to put the Raiders ahead 22-21 with just eight seconds left, winning the game for the team, and moving them to 3-0 in the preseason.

Here are the highlights and three stars for the third game of the preseason, as well as a look ahead for the Raiders.
