Nick Nelson Struggles

Nick Nelson may have sealed the victory with a pick on the last hail mary attempt, but that doesn’t wipe clean the struggles that were apparent throughout the game. The Raiders’ fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft was consistently picked on by the Packers. Yes, it’s only the preseason, but in reality, that logic just makes the struggles more significant.

First Jake Kumerow absolutely schooled Nelson with a double move, finding the endzone for an open 23-yard score. Then again, Kumerow found the endzone with a 16-yard touchdown reception at the expense of Nelson, who was the nearest defender.

Nelson already struggled a year ago against the likes of Tyreek Hill, whom Oakland will see twice again this season. Stumbles in the third game of the preseason like what we witnessed Nelson encounter is a troubling sign for the sophomore corner’s development.
