Carlson is Money

It’s not that easy to name a few bright spots from last season, but the signing of Daniel Carlson was surely one of them. After a carousel of kickers a year ago the Raiders seemed to find their long-term solution in Carlson, who returns again this season.

Against the Packers in Winnepeg, with the questionable turf perhaps playing against him too, Carlson proved that he is money, simple as that. He went three-for-three on the night, two field goals (including the game-winner) and an extra point. His longest of the night was from 42 yards out.

With a daunting regular-season schedule ahead, wins must come at whatever the cost. Come crunch time, Gruden and the Raiders should have confidence in Carlson going out there and icing the game if need be. He’s shown it in the preseason and should be ready to do the same come Week 1 and on.
