5 Oakland Raiders on the bubble entering the final preseason game
By Matt Holder
Anthony Rush, DL
Anthony Rush began the offseason as an unknown, but has quickly made a name for himself in the preseason. Per Pro Football Focus, the defensive tackle ranks second in the NFL with eight run stops (defined as: tackles that result in a “failure” for the offense), and has consistently wreaked havoc in the trenches.
At 6’5″ 350 pounds, the former UAB Blazer certainly has NFL size, but do the Raiders have enough room for the big man?
Defensive tackle might be one of Oakland’s deepest position groups. Rush is likely competing with fellow run-stuffers Justin Ellis and Johnathan Hankins, both of whom are proven commodities. The recent addition of former Los Angeles Charger, Corey Liuget makes performing well in Thursday’s game even more crucial for the young lineman.
As is the common theme with undrafted free agents, Rush will have to prove himself on a week to week basis.
