Oakland Raiders: 3 players to watch Thursday vs Seahawks
Anthony Rush
To keep the trend of impressive undrafted free agents going, defensive tackle Anthony Rush is a player of interest against the Seahawks. Rush seemed like a strong candidate to make the roster, until the sudden signing of Corey Liuget.
The signing now makes Rush’s status uncertain. The same can be said for Ethan Westbrooks, who has been performing nicely as well. Some people have even thrown out P.J. Hall‘s name, but there is no way Hall doesn’t make the active man roster in my opinion.
The fact that the Raiders signed Liuget could mean that they’re still not sure about Rush and Westbrooks. Interior defensive line has become insanely crowded. Some of these young players are going to have to be shown the door.
It’s why keeping an eye on Anthony Rush Thursday will be huge. His performance of course is big, but how long he plays, as well as others, will be an indicator of who they want to see more of.
While it would be a luxury to keep both Rush and Westbrooks, Rush should be the favorite to make the team. It would be a huge risk to place him on the practice squad too. Teams are definitely going to pounce if he gets cut this Saturday.
In Rush’s case, putting pressure on Jon Gruden and his staff is huge for him with an exceptional showing against the Seahawks. Rush would be another name to the long list of UDFA the Raiders have brought in who could make the team.
