Oakland Raiders: 3 players to watch Thursday vs Seahawks
Keisean Nixon
Given what he has put on display so far this preseason, it would not be farfetched to say that cornerback Keisean Nixon deserves a spot on the roster. The guy has just been putting the clamps on receivers, and has done it on a consistent basis.
Nixon is an undrafted free agent signing for the Raiders and he just may put his final stamp to make the team this Thursday against the Seahawks. Another strong outing will definitely make Jon Gruden’s decision to keep him or not a difficult one.
Nixon has already gotten the attention of Gruden with his performance this preseason, so he has that going for him. Nixon has been targeted 15 times and has only allowed five catches for 37 yards. You don’t want to let that talent go, especially with the potential that his being shown.
It’s just a matter if he can keep this up against the Seahawks, which he should since they don’t really have a threatening receiver. It also helps that likes of Nick Nelson, who is his competition, has been playing very poorly. At this point, so long as Nixon doesn’t have a terrible outing in Seattle he has a good shot to make the roster regardless of what his competition does.
