Stock Down: Luke Willson

Before training camp started, Oakland brought aboard seven tight ends for three spots. They now only have six, and Luke Willson currently sits on the roster bubble with just one day away from the final cut. He needed to breakout in his final preseason game to prove the point that he’s a tight end that the coaches must keep around.

Although, he didn’t perform to a level that will propel him into roster contention. He finished the game with one catch for six-yards. With Darren Waller and Foster Moreau locks to make the team, the final tight end spot remains between Willson and Derek Carrier.

Without Willson doing anything over expectations, it looks to be Carrier’s job moving forward. Willson is a veteran who brings experience, but Carrier provides a more versatile skill set with his ability to catch, pass-block, and play special teams.
