Reserves

Trayvon Mullen

With the way the Oakland Raiders secondary is set up, the depth players at cornerback can be rotated often. Trayvon Mullen would undoubtedly be the next man up for Worley or Conley. I do believe he can hang with the starters, but he is going to be wet behind the ears initially.

He is a rookie of course it’s only natural he has some rough outings. Mullen’s development is something to keep an eye on as the season progresses. If Worley or even Conley starts to play inconsistent, then I wouldn’t put it past the Raiders to replace them with Mullen.

Nevin Lawson

There is also Nevin Lawson they can look to in rotation or as a fill in if need be. He has proven that he can be rolled out there at any given time. Once again, his hold of the staring position with the Lions should not be overlooked. That is the benefit of having uniform talent for the Oakland Raiders at cornerback.

They don’t have any standout player, but they have four corners who can play well enough. Lawson will miss the first four games due to suspension, so I wouldn’t necessarily say he is a lock when he returns. But if he does stay on with the Raiders, he is good depth piece to have

Keisean Nixon

Even Keisean Nixon can come in if need be, though I do not expect he’ll see the field much outside of special team for most of the season. If there is a time for Nixon to leave an imprint on the minds of the coaches, it is with these first four games.

Since Lawson will be out, Nixon’s number will surely be called upon here and there. He has a chance to dwindle Lawson’s worth like how he did with Nick Nelson.

It’s safe to say the Raiders are in good hands at corner, especially if you look at previous seasons. The key is the development of the young guys like Trayvon Mullen, Keisean Nixon and Isaiah Johnson, who was placed on injured reserve. All three aren’t going to be studs, but if just one of them can get to be a strong talent then the future of the position will be phenomenal.
