Reserves

At first look, only Marquel Lee was listed as a reserve linebacker for the Raiders, but they have since added Kyle Wilber to the mix. In Lee, the Raiders have a linebacker that has starting experience, and who is decent in coverage. He is looking to establish himself as a starter in the league.

Wilber is a guy who was a solid linebacker for Dallas, and not only can he fill a reserve role on the defense, but is a solid guy on special teams. The Raiders need players like him to round out the 53-man roster, and if someone goes down in the starting lineup, they have a guy with starting experience on the bench.

While the team is ready to go, the linebacker corps is lacking pass rushers, but they made up for it on the defensive line. What’s also important to note is safety Johnathan Abrams is an all-around player, which can help the defensive pass-rushing need.

The strong corner and safety play will help the linebackers with man-to-man coverage. The rushing defense should be improved this year with Burfict playing the middle and the potential to lead the NFL in tackles.

Now that Melvin Gordon is not playing and seeking a trade, the Raiders could be the best defense in the AFC West this year.

Burfict will lead this defensive unit while Abram will help the secondary get ready for every play. Rookie edge rusher Clelin Ferrell will be let loose and crush the quarterbacks of the opposing team.

The defense needs to play aggressive, and fast in the early quarters in the game to set the tone for the rest of the game. Giving Carr more time with the fast, and shifty running back and an offensive line that can open up holes with two pro-bowl wide receivers.

This team has all the potential to be winners.
