Darren Waller

If for some reason Darren Waller is still available on the waiver wire, do yourself a favor and place that claim. Waller is among the many fantasy breakout candidates this season, and Derek Carr and Jon Gruden have consistently spoken highly of his potential throughout training camp.

A season ago, Jared Cook was often the safety net for Derek Carr in the passing game. There’s no reason to believe Carr can’t create the same chemistry with Waller.

Some may be skeptical given Gruden’s repeated echoes of Carr throwing downfield to the likes of Antonio Brown or another wideout but don’t discredit Waller’s impact. He’s shown his athleticism and speed, and very well could be a nice sleeper pick for your Week 1 fantasy matchup.
