Looking ahead

With victory No. 1 in the books, something the Raiders did not accomplish until Week 4 last season, the team will now stay home to welcome in another division rival next Sunday. Oakland will play host to Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 2, with the Chiefs fresh off a dominating victory against Jacksonville in Week 1.

Mahomes, who won the NFL Most Valuable Player award last season, threw for three touchdowns in the opener, but the team did lost top target Tyreek Hill. In his absence, Sammy Watkins stepped up for Kansas City, hauling in all three of Mahomes’ touchdown passes.

The Chiefs will be a tough matchup for Oakland this week, but they will be at home, where the crowd was absolutely on fire on Monday night. Without Hill, the Chiefs have a hole in their offense, and with how good the Raiders looked on both sides of the ball against the Broncos, this may be a closer game that some are predicting.
