Most Valuable Player: Trent Brown

I’ve been thinking for a while about who has the potential to get the team MVP award this year and who can achieve that success for the team. That being said, my prediction may come out of the left field for may fans and readers. It is Trent Brown.

A right tackle? Hear me out.

Trent Brown is an immense man, that’s no question. He’s 6’8″, 380-pounds of a bowling ball. But with that comes the experience of a Super Bowl-winning team with the New England Patriots. Say what you will about the Patriots and their team, but don’t ever say their front office can’t develop talent and get the most out of their players.

He only allowed 3.5 sacks last year while playing against Von Miller, Cameron Wake, Darius Leonard, Aaron Donald, J.J Watt, Ryan Kerrigan, and Kahlil Mack. That’s right, 3.5 sacks last year going up against all of these players. The man knows how to block.

Kolton Miller had a rough rookie season allowing a league-leading 14 sacks and 59 quarterback hurries. When the Raiders drafted Miller they understood he was a work in progress and would need a lot of TLC to get him where he needs to be elite.

This is where Trent Brown comes into play.

Brown can help this offensive line to be one of the tops in the league. Carr has been needing a fantastic line for many years, especially this year with the talent around him. One criticism of him on the team is the funds we paid for him.

Tackles are increasingly becoming more and more valuable due to the number of pass-rushers coming into the league teams are now looking for two elite tackles rather than one. It’s also important to a historically run-blocking position to be pass-blocking as well. Trent Brown is that for the Raiders right now.

He’s one of the best tackles out there and he’s in his prime and can help elevate all other players on this team.
