After the Oakland Raiders delivered a heavy punch to the Denver Broncos in the 2019 season debut, they were on the receiving end against the Kansas City Chiefs in week 2. Despite the loss, Josh Jacobs showed some positive signs moving forward.

Josh Jacobs was handed the ball just 12 times in the Oakland Raiders 28-10 loss, but he wasn’t the one to fault.

The Raiders were outmatched from the start of the second quarter and the same could be said for the entirety of the second half, forcing them to put the running attack on the back burner as they played from behind.

Meanwhile, with the game reaching its breaking point – Jacobs continued to run with purpose. In the second half, he found a hole on the right side of the offensive line and busted his way through the gap for a 51-yard gain, lowering his shoulder into the Chiefs defender for an additional gain.

Below is the highlight courtesy of the Raiders official Twitter site.

Jacobs finished the game with 12 carries for 99-yards, averaging 9.2-yards per carry. He was a non-factor in the receiving game, going catch-less in week 2.

Even with Jacobs not finding the end zone this week, the Raiders staff still have many things to be happy about when it comes to their rookie running back. He recorded his longest run of his young career, and even when the game looked to be out of reach late into the fourth quarter, he continued along in ways he could.

With just two game under his belt, Jacobs looks to be the primary focus of the Oakland offense. As the team heads to Minnesota for week 3, Jacobs will be given the opportunity to elevate the offense after a down performance in week 2.

The offensive game plan against the Chiefs was far from successful, so maybe Jon Gruden looks towards getting Jacobs more involved in the passing game against the stout Minnesota defense.
