Tyrell Williams

The Raiders have looked to Tyrell Williams to be their number one receiving option, and he has done well as he leads the team in yards and touchdowns. Williams is dealing with a hip injury, and the Vikings have capable players in the secondary, but there is one hole the Raiders could exploit.

Last week in Green Bay, the Vikings struggled to defend the slot as the Packers moved Davante Adams inside and were able to get advantageous matchups.  The Vikings main outside corners Xavier Rhodes and Trae Waynes do not travel inside very often if ever.  The Raiders could do something similar to Williams, who is a different style of player than Adams but has shown the ability to move into the slot.

For a more in-depth look at this, go read our own Matt Holder, who explains just how big of a mismatch this could be for Oakland.

Another reason Williams is such an appealing option is that the Vikings have proven to be very formidable against tight ends. Which will make things hard for Darren Waller the Raiders’ second-best pass-catching choice. Against the Packers, Minnesota did not even allow a catch to a tight end. So the volume appears to be favoring Williams in this game.
