3 Duds

Kolton Miller

The amount of praise regarding the pass protection by the Raiders may have been humbled after the loss to the Vikings. Derek Carr was brought down four times on the day, while Josh Jacobs was continuously bottled up for just 44 yards on 10 carries. Everson Griffen himself had a day with a sack and six total tackles (four solo), and it came at the expense of Kolton Miller, who very much looked like a second-year player still working to improve.

Gareon Conley

The Raiders revamped secondary as a whole laid an egg on Sunday as getting 34 points handed to you (majority through the air) will do that. But Gareon Conley had a few notable instances of struggling against the likes of Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs. Diggs in particular easily beat Conley on a third and short situation, and to make matters worse Conley was called for the face mask afterward.

Karl Joseph

Rightfully so, Conley doesn’t deserve all the blame for the secondary’s woes. Karl Joseph had a rough going as well and had trouble in coverage all day long. On one play, in particular, Joseph simply did not turn around and was easily called for the pass interference. Already with his future with the Raiders being in doubt, that’s a fundamental mistake that a fourth-year player cannot allow.
