Oakland Raiders rookie Josh Jacobs showed why he was a first round pick this year, as he rushed for 123 yards on 26 carries and two rushing touchdowns.

The Oakland Raiders game plan was clear in the Week 5 match-up against the Bears; feed Josh Jacobs the ball. Jacobs carried the football 26 times, as well as having three receptions on Sunday. Jacobs rushed for 123 yards, received for 30 more, giving him 153 total yards on the day.

Not only did Jacobs move the ball up and down the field all day, he also rushed for two touchdowns, including the game winner to put the Raiders up 24-21.

Jacobs was taken by the Raiders in the first round of the 2019 NFL draft with one of the picks received from the Chicago Bears in the Khalil Mack trade. When Mack went to the Bears, Chicago became the best defense in the NFL, but Josh Jacobs and the Raiders offense did not care.

Jacobs is making a strong case for the rookie of the year winner, and it is not just his stats that make him so great. Jacobs has everything you would want in a running back. The rookie faced off against the best defense in the NFL, and they had no answer for him.

Jacobs can find a hole on any run, he can make defenders miss, and he can run players over. This was all shown throughout the entirety of the game, as Jacobs was trucking, spinning, juking, and even diving into the end zone.

For Oakland, this has to be the gameplan going forward, as a steady dose of Jacobs opens up Derek Carr to carve up secondaries throughout the game. It also helps the Raiders win the time of possession battle, which is something they will need against high-powered offenses like the Houston Texans and Green Bay Packers after the bye week.

At this point, it looks like the Raiders nailed this draft pick, as Jacobs has 430 rushing yards and four touchdowns after Week 5 of his rookie season. The Raiders are starting to use him more and more, and I would expect him to be the centerpiece of this offense for the rest of the year. Josh Jacobs had the biggest game of his young career against the best defense in the season. He is something special.
