Alec Ingold

Heading into training camp, the Oakland Raiders figured that they would once again roll with Keith Smith as the team’s starting fullback. However, Gruden and Mayock brought in Alec Ingold in a depth role for the summer, and after interacting with him during the Senior Bowl, they knew they liked something about the kid.

With Smith struggling to stay healthy, Ingold got a golden opportunity during the preseason, and took control of the starting job. Now, after five weeks in the NFL, Ingold has become the perfect fullback for this offense, showing he can get in there and make some devastating blocks, freeing fellow rookie Josh Jacobs.

The bottom line is, the Raiders are building up this roster the right way, capitalizing on solid draft picks, and even bringing in young rookies via free agency. This is a team that has shocked the NFL landscape so far during the 2019 NFL season, and with all of this young talent on the team moving forward, they have the opportunity to be good for a long time.
