The offense needs to be smarter

The Raiders offense has done a good job of moving the ball downfield on most defenses, including the Packers. Oakland had more total yards than the Packers in the game, but they were still outscored 42-24.

The Raiders reached the red zone multiple times, but mistakes in the coaching and decision making of Derek Carr proved to be the downfall. This offense needs to be smarter at the goal line. There have been so many times this season where something bad happens at the goal line because we do not keep it simple.

For example, the Raiders gave the ball to Trevor Davis instead of Josh Jacobs or Alec Ingold on the goal line against Chicago, which resulted in a fumble. This week, the Raiders were on the goal line on second down and decided to run a bootleg with Derek Carr instead of giving the ball to Josh Jacobs, which resulted in a fumble.

The one time the Raiders fed Josh Jacobs the ball at the goal line this game was on fourth and goal, the one situation where the Raiders should consider not giving him the ball. It is easy to look back and pick on mistakes, but when I am watching the game and know that they will do something besides give Josh Jacobs the ball, and I expect something to go wrong, you know it is a consistent problem.
