Right Tackle

Whether Trent Brown is back or David Sharpe filling in again, someone is going to have to deal with Houston’s J.J. Watt. The All-Pro is coming off his best game of the season despite not having a sack. Watt had 6 QB hits against a very stout Colts offensive line.

By now, everyone knows precisely what Watt can do, much like Aaron Donald and Khalil Mack.

The Raiders did very well against Mack earlier in the season and will have to do the same this Sunday.

Watt leads the league in QB hits by a decent margin, so this may even be a step up from what they faced in Khalil Mack. The QB hits are crucial because even though Watt only has four sacks, he is clearly getting in the backfield and impacting the game.

The Raiders have the fourth lowest adjusted sack rate and are first in the league in adjusted line yards from right tackles. So they have gotten production from that position in both the run and pass game. Oakland is doing it best to make sure Brown is ready to go on Sunday, but he is still limited.

Brown is number one in the NFL in pass-block win rate according to ESPN, so despite Sharpe filling in nicely last week, the Raiders need their starter back.
