The Oakland Raiders went stride for stride with the Houston Texans, but eventually fell short late in the fourth quarter. Here are three things we learned in the Raiders 24-21 loss in Houston.

The Oakland Raiders found themselves with a 14-10 lead as they went into the locker room for half time. While it still remained anybody’s game, the Raiders looked to be in control for the majority of the first half — including the containment of keeping Deshaun Watson inside the pocket.

In the second half Watson found ways to get loose and led the Texans downfield for two touchdowns and one filed goal before lining up in victory formation. The Raiders offense kept in stride, however, they did experience a multitude of penalties and had some crucial dropped passes in the fourth quarter.

Despite the loss, the Raiders had some positive things to build on such as the offense recording their 16th drive of 10 or more plays which ranks first in the NFL. Jon Gruden’s offensive is one that dominates the time of possession, although, in the second half of Sunday’s game, the Texans gave the Raiders a taste of their own medicine as Oakland only had the ball on offense three times.

The Raiders will now head back home after this gruesome road trip and take on the Detroit Lions at Ring Central Coliseum on 11/3 at 1:05 pm PT.
