Josh Jacobs having historic rookie season for the Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders have struck gold with rookie running back Josh Jacobs, who is having a historic first season in the Silver and Black.

The Oakland Raiders utilized one of their three first round picks in the 2019 NFL Draft on Alabama running back Josh Jacobs, and boy are they happy they did. Jacobs has been the featured back that this franchise has been missing, and recently, he was name dthe NFL’s Rookie of the Month for the offensive side of the ball.

Not only was Jacobs named the NFL’s Rookie of the Month, but in doing so, he joined some exclusive company. According to Eddie Paskal, and thanks to the Raiders PR department, Jacobs became the first Raiders rookie to win the award since Charles Woodson.

In addition, he is the first Raiders rookie to ever be named NFL Rookie of the Month.

During the month of October, across the Raiders three games, Jacobs rushed for 313 yards on 62 carries, while finding the end zone twice. In two of those games, the rookie rushed for nearly 125 yards, and against the Green Bay Packers, he averaged nearly six yards per carry.

Overall, Jacobs has been an incredible addition to this Raiders roster, taking pressure off of Derek Carr, while giving the team a threat in both the run, and pass game. While he has not been utilize much in the passing game yet, he is definitely a weapon, and as he gets more experience, that part of his game should be showcased more.

Oakland did a nice job building up there offensive line, and now that they have Jacobs toting the rock, they have a great balance on the offensive side of the ball. Remember, this kid has been playing with a banged up shoulder for the past month, and still continues to be a menace for defenders, racking up 35 broken tackles, and averaging nearly four yard after contact according to Pro Football Focus.

To date, Jacobs is the sixth-leading rusher in the NFL, and that is with already having to go through his bye week. He is a special  talent, and for this Raiders team, he is having one of the more historic rookie seasons of all-time.
