Scouting Report. Alabama. 829. Pick Analysis. Running Back. NajeeHarris. 107. player

The Raiders already have their star running back with Josh Jacobs, although, when he comes off the field they need a power back who can still move the chains on 3rd and short situations. Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington are nice complementary backs, but they’re really more of a change of pace type.

Najee Harris fits the mold of a physical back that can bulldoze his way through blockers. Harris is arguably the most powerful runner in college football and he isn’t afraid to truck defenders to fight for extra yards. He’s an adequate runner in the open field, but doesn’t do much in the passing game.

Harris doesn’t jump off the stat sheet as he’s always played in a backfield by committee but during his time at Alabama he’s accumulated an average of 95 carries, 598 yards and four touchdowns. I wouldn’t expect Harris to be a bell-cow runner for an NFL team but can be a productive runner in a rotational backfield.

Pros:

  • Large
  • Strength
  • Downhill runner

Cons:

  • Primarily runs inside the tackles
  • Limited experience as a pass catcher
  • Backfield by committee
