David Sharpe

Just about all of Raider Nation started to panic when starting right tackle Trent Brown went down against the Lions. Brown is one of the best right tackles in the NFL and replacing him is nearly impossible. However, replacement David Sharpe performed admirably on Sunday.

Sharpe only allowed one sack against Detroit and it came against Trey Flowers, who is one of the better pass rushers in the league. The former fourth-round pick also posted the third-highest Pro Football Focus run-blocking grade among tackles.

As previously mentioned, the Chargers have a very talented pass rusher, so Sharpe will need to sure-up his pass protection skills during the short week. Play-caller Jon Gruden will likely give his right tackle some help, but at some point, Sharpe will need to hold his own. Otherwise, it could be a very long night for quarterback Derek Carr and the Raiders offense.
