Will Compton

After being acquired by the team earlier in the week, Compton saw a handful of snaps at linebacker on Sunday. Despite low expectations for the veteran, he performed well by accumulating four tackles and allowing one completion for three yards in coverage. With Nicholas Morrow on the injury report, expect Compton to get more playing time on Thursday.

In the last three games, the Silver and Black have allowed 20 catches for 182 yards and four touchdowns to backs out of the backfield. That statistic should be very concerning for defensive coordinator Paul Guenther because the Chargers have a very good receiving back. Running back Austin Ekeler leads the position with 530 receiving yards and is 126 yards ahead of James White, who ranks second.

Hopefully, Compton can turn things around for the Raiders linebacker because lately the group looks lost in coverage. It’s a small sample size but the new linebacker has shown promise in coverage, so he might be the answer to one of the team’s biggest problems.
