The Raiders safety group is a lot stronger now than in years past, especially one Johnathan Abram returns. As poor as the passing defense has been this season, the safeties for Oakland have stepped up in big moments, such as Eric Harris‘ pick-six against Indianapolis, and Karl Joseph‘s broken up pass against the Lions.
With that being said, Joseph’s future with the team is still unsure, Abram’s injury could linger next season, and Curtis Riley should not be with the team next year. Greg Eisworth would be a great weapon at safety as one of the best tackling safeties in college football.
Eisworth recorded 87 tackles last season on top of 44 this season, as well as having an interception, a sack, and two forced fumbles for the Cyclones. Eisworth may not start right away, but the Raiders need depth at the position.
