The Oakland Raiders have reached the midway point of the 2019 season with a 4-4 record. Let’s look at which players have had the biggest impact thus far and hand out some mid-season awards.
On Sunday the Raiders dispatched the Detroit Lions in a closely contested game to even their record at 4-4 heading into Week 10. That win total of four matches their season total from last year as the team limped to a 4-12 finish. With a legitimate path to the playoffs laid out for them, the Raiders are in a very intriguing position heading into the final eight games of the season.
Several players have stepped up in a big way this year when compared to last season. The offensive line in particular has been very solid through the first eight game, ranking as the best o-line in terms of QB hits allowed only giving up 16. Other units haven’t fared as well, namely the secondary.
While still a ways from being a complete team that is a legitimate contender, this Raiders squad has shown signs of improvement and given fans hope for the first time since the improbably 2016 season.
With that in mind, let’s look back upon the last eight games and dish out some awards including Offensive and Defensive MVP, Rookie of the Year, Biggest Surprise, and Best Moment. Without any further ado, lets jump straight in with the team’s offensive MVP.
