Too Many Penalties

With all these close games, there is still plenty to work on, and first on the list needs to be the excessive amount of penalties.

The Raiders had another 12 penalties for 97 yards and gave up five first downs because of it. They had 10 for 96 yards last week against the Lions and nearly let Detroit send the game into overtime on the back of penalties.

As much as the Raiders have improved on in 2019, the penalties continue to be an issue for this franchise as they’ve been in the bottom half of the league in this area for the entire 2000s. And more often than not, they are in the bottom five.

The amount of offsides penalties were comical, and even though it is comfortable to just say the refs have it out for the Raiders, they were simply just undisciplined at times. Hopefully, Jon Gruden can get this under control instead of just yelling at the ref after each flag because this has been an issue with his teams throughout his career.

This can’t continue if the Raiders want to make a playoff push because sooner or later, that undisciplined play is going to cost them an important game.
