Young secondary flashes potential

Maxx Crosby and the defensive line gave the Raiders secondary quite the boost with their pass rush on Sunday, but when called upon to make plays, the young cornerbacks for Oakland flashed the potential of what can come. Granted, it was a sample size against a rookie quarterback, but still a pleasant sight nonetheless.

Isaiah Johnson pegged as the steal of the draft for the Raiders, registered an assisted tackle and had a nice pass deflection on Sunday. Trayvon Mullen, playing more valuable snaps as of late, had five solo tackles, two pass deflections, and the game-sealing interception late in the fourth quarter.

This secondary is still working through growing pains, and by all means, has plenty of room to improve as the season continues on, but like this defense as a whole, they’re showing incremental growth week over week.
