Oakland Raiders

“Just Win Baby” is the motto for the Silver and Black, and the phrase rang true on Sunday, as the Raiders hosted the winless Bengals. Derek Carr and Jon Gruden were right to not take their opponent for granted, as Oakland fended off Cincinnati 17-10.

The story of the game was the Raiders’ young defense stepping up and creating opportunities for the offense. Maxx Crosby registered four sacks and a forced fumble, while Trayvon Mullen had five solo tackles and the game-sealing interception.

The rookies exceeding expectations faster than expected has been the story all season, and Sunday was just another chapter written. For first-year general manager Mike Mayock, his first NFL draft class has been outstanding, as the Raiders could have the Offensive and Defensive Rookies of the Year on this roster right now.

Coming up this week, an East coast road trip to take on a New York Jets team that has won two straight, and playing much better football on both sides of the ball.
