The Oakland Raiders will have to avoid the dreaded trap game on Sunday, as they travel East to take on the New York Jets inside MetLife Stadium.

The Oakland Raiders head into their Sunday matchup with the New York Jets sitting at 6-4, and in full control of their destiny in the AFC. They have put together a remarkable comeback from a dreaded four-win 2018 season, thanks to some incredible additions, as well as stability from the coaching staff.

New general manager Mike Mayock was an outstanding hire, and now that Derek Carr is getting comfortable in the same offensive system for a consecutive year,  the returns have been outstanding. He is completing over 70 percent of his passes, and has done a nice job despite having a depleted wide receiver corps for most of the season.

On defense, Oakland has really stepped up in recent weeks, and are getting contributions up and down their lineup. Fourth round rookie Maxx Crosby was named the NFL’s Defensive Player of the Week last week, after getting to Bengals quarterback Ryan Finley four times, and forcing a fumble in the team’s 17-10 victory in Week 11.

Overall, the Raiders have the talent on both sides of the ball to make a run at the playoffs, but the 3-7 New York Jets are not going to be an easy task. They are coming off a two-game winning streak, are getting great play from quarterback Sam Darnold, and have some elite talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Here is how you can watch all of the action online.

New York boasts the No. 1 run defense in the league, so it will be interesting to see how the rookie Josh Jacobs can against them. Oakland’s offensive line had some issues against the Cincinnati Bengals last weekend, but Jacobs was still able to get his yards, and is the front-runner for Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2019.

This is a golden opportunity for the Raiders to once again prove they are one of the elite teams in the AFC this season. It will certainly be a good matchup, as each team does a number of things very well, but in the end, you have to think the Raiders just have more talent than the Jets do right now, and will come away with the victory.
