Possibly Over Confident?

The Raiders came into this game with a good amount of momentum, but in the words of Derek Carr, they got punched in the mouth by the Jets.

"“We got our butts kicked,” Carr said in postgame interviews. “There’s no other way around that. They got after us from start to finish. Hopefully, it’s an eye-opener.”"

And he’s right, Oakland looked wholly unprepared and was soundly beaten on both sides of the ball and looked like a team that thought they could just show up and be given a win. Outgained 401 to 208 and what’s even crazier was the fact that Oakland never even reached the red zone. Gregg Williams had the Jets defense prepared and really took it to Jon Gruden and the offensive staff.

Sure some calls did not go the Raiders way, but a 34-3 beatdown was not a byproduct of some wrong flags.

The elements also looked to affect the Raiders as they had dropped passes, mishandled snaps, and difficulty in the kicking game. And with a high of 37-degree weather projected for Kansas City this coming Sunday with high winds, it isn’t getting better.

Now, this in no way means the Raiders are suddenly a terrible team, and the world is crumbling, they are still young and growing. But because of that, they can’t show up unfocused, and a game like this reminds us of that.

Also, with teams like New England, Baltimore, Buffalo, and Kansas city all looking like playoff teams, the Raiders better get used to miserable weather quickly. Carr drops to 2-9 in games under 50 degrees with a passer rating under 70. And the rest of the team didn’t respond any better.
