Maxx Crosby
In the last few weeks, the Eastern Michigan product has burst on the scene. Crosby has racked up 5.5 sacks in the last three games and a couple of weeks ago was named to Pro Football Focus’ team of the week. He has been able to exploit some shaky offensive lines and has an opportunity to continue his hot streak on Sunday.
While Mitchell Schwartz is one of the best right tackles in the league, the other side of the line for the Chiefs is a different story. Cam Erving filled in for Eric Fisher in weeks 3 through 10 and was awful as Erving allowed five sacks during that span. Fisher did return to action in Kansas City’s last contest a couple of weeks ago but wasn’t the same and is coming off a serious injury.
Whichever blind side protector the Chiefs decide to go with this weekend, Crosby should be able to take advantage. The rookie has been the most productive pass rusher for Oakland this season and forcing Mahomes off his spot is the best way to disrupt the quarterback’s rhythm.
It’s nearly impossible to stop the gunslinger, but if Crosby can get some pressure and make Mahomes uncomfortable in the pocket, the Silver and Black will have a chance to at least slow the Chiefs offense down.
