Three Stars

1. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes had a week off to get ready for the rivalry game against the Oakland Raiders, and he was able to take care of business with his arm, and his legs. Mahomes got the party started by connecting with Darrel Williams for a first quarter touchdown pass, before scoring from 15-yards out later in the first half.

With his touchdown pass, Mahomes became the fastest player to 70 touchdowns passes, doing it in only 27 games. He has owned the Raiders since taking over for Alex Smith as the starter in Kansas City, and showed once again that he has the Silver and Black’s number in front of the home crowd.

2. Josh Jacobs, RB, Oakland Raiders

The Oakland Raiders have a stellar rookie at the running back position, and on Sunday, he entered the team’s record books. With his 104 yards on the ground, Jacobs became the first Raiders rookie to eclipse the 1,000-yard mark on the season, and he still has four games left to go.

While the Raiders could not do anything in the air, Jacobs held his own on the ground, as he terrorized the Chiefs 30th ranked run defense. For Oakland, he was the lone bright spot in the game, and has become the marquee player on this Raiders offense in year No. 1.

3. Kansas City Chiefs defense

The Kansas City Chiefs defense came into this game with issues, especially against the run, and they knew that they would have to stop an elite player in Josh Jacobs. While Jacobs did a fantastic job in the run game, Derek Carr was lost in the passing game, and had one of his two interceptions returned for a touchdown by Juan Thornhill.

Overall, the Chiefs defense came to play in this one, and you got the feeling early on that Carr was not going to be able to do much against them. Kansas City had a tall task ahead of them this upcoming week, as they take on the New England Patriots, but they definitely showed promise by allowing only a garbage-time touchdown in this one.
