Kansas City Chiefs
After struggling (by their standards) earlier in the season with consecutive losses at home and suspect defense, the Kansas City Chiefs are rolling through the month of December. In a rematch of last season’s AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs sent a message to the New England Patriots Sunday afternoon.
After the Patriots got on the scoreboard early 7-0, a blocked field goal by Kansas City shifted the momentum into the Chiefs’ favor. Kansas City rattled off 23 straight points while the defense contained Tom Brady and the struggling Patriots offense for the better portion of the night.
New England attempted the comeback, but Kansas City held on for the 23-16 victory, moving to 9-4 and inching closer to the Patriots’ second seed at 10-3. The victory, coupled with the Raiders’ loss to the Titans, clinched the division in favor of the Chiefs.
