174. Anthony Gordon – Quarterback, Washington State

Perhaps the Raiders will be looking for a new starting quarterback when the draft comes around, but at the moment, their backup situation needs to be addressed. DeShone Kizer is currently the team’s backup quarterback, and he is not someone that instills a lot of confidence.

The Jacksonville Jaguars got a quality player last draft when they took Gardner Minshew in the sixth round, so perhaps his replace Anthony Gordon could be something as well.

Gordon does not lack arm talent as he can make any throw on the field with good velocity, and we know playing in the Mike Leach system, he got plenty of reps. His baseball background allows him to throw from multiple release angles, and if there is a big play to be made, Gordon plays fearless and will let it fly.

The flaws with Gordon start with the inconsistencies in his footwork, which lead to issues with accuracy. There is also a perception surrounding quarterbacks from the Leach system, so he’ll have to overcome that too. He recently accepted an invite to the senior bowl, so that week in Mobile will be huge. But with an NFL level arm and a young mind that Gruden could mold to his system, he could be a steal late on day 3.
