Benson Mayowa

Seeing as Oakland is Benson Mayowa’s third team in as many years, he is no stranger to the hot seat. The well-traveled veteran started the year on fire but has cooled off significantly down the stretch.

Through the first nine games of the year, he racked up seven sacks and was the most productive pass rusher on the roster. However, he hasn’t recorded a tackle since Week 10 and has one quarterback pressure in that timeframe. The recent lack of production combined with low career numbers suggests that Mayowa’s start to the season was more of a fluke rather than a sign that he has turned the corner.

Heading into next season, the Silver and Black do need help in the pass rusher department. If the defensive lineman can get some pressure in these last few games, he can definitely become part of the team’s future plans. Otherwise, Mayowa will be looking for another new home or a new career path.
