Grant Delpit, S LSU

Remember when Jon Gruden wanted to draft Derwin James in 2018? Well he might just get his mulligan on that one if Grant Delpit is still on the board when either of their two 1st round picks come around.

In Matt Miller’s most recent 3-Round mock draft, he refers to Delpit as a “Round 1 player who has the ability to turn into a Derwin James-type safety”.

Coming into the college football season Grant Delpit was easily one of the most talked about prospects on the defensive side of the ball. Coming off a sophomore season having 74 tot tackles, 5 sacks, and 5 INT, 2019 was some what of a underwhelming year in comparison putting up 56/1/2 respectively.

But with his elite talent in coverage, along with his ability to step up in the box if needed, he’s still the top safety in the draft and pairing him with Jonathan Abram would give the Raiders a very powerful duo for years to come.
