Despite the recent losses, the Raiders have a bright future

Staying with the offense, we can’t help but not to talk about Josh Jacobs and the season he’s had. The rookie running back seems to be running away with the Offensive Rookie of the Year award in 2019.

Jacobs has over 1,000 yards rushing, 770 has come after contact with an average of 3.53 per attempt and 61 missed tackles. Even more impressive is his 4.9 YPC with his seven touchdowns and 49 first downs to go along with 25 runs of 10+ yards. Jacobs is starting to look and act like a starting running back in the NFL and continues to impress me.

He’s currently ranked second in rushing grades only behind Nick Chubb. Jacobs is currently 21 years old and has the vision of a veteran running back.

I was one of the first people to toot his horn by saying he’s the key to the Raiders offense in 2019. I stated at the end of the article

"Jacobs is the key to take this offense to the next level."

I stand by this statement. In every game they’ve been blown out in, Jacobs hasn’t been the focal point of the game. In the games he was, they are 6-4 and most of those losses have come from very bad defensive play rather that causes the team to abandon the running game.

Even while the NFL has moved from run-and-gun style offense to the 4,500-yard quarterbacks, Josh Jacobs remains one of the only young running backs to be the focal point of the offense and will continue to be so for many years to come.
