It’s time for the Oakland Raiders to start thinking about the future and change up the distribution of reps in the final two weeks of the season.
This time of year there are two types of teams, ones that are gearing up for a playoff run and others that are focusing on next year. In the midst of a four-game losing streak, the Oakland Raiders find themselves in the latter category. With this in mind, head coach Jon Gruden needs to reevaluate his strategy when it comes to playing time.
Some may call it tanking and others will say it’s just a smart strategy, but Gruden needs to focus on developing players rather than winning games during the team’s last contests. At this point in the season, winning only hurts the Raiders’ draft position and the team is better off giving young guys more NFL experience. It’s time for the youth movement and a depth chart shakeup.
Of course, for every player that gets moved up, another has to fall down the chart. Each position group needs to be evaluated and here we take a look at Gruden’s options.
