Mullen’s second career interception

The Raiders would be wise to go defense in the coming draft (but in reality, that seems to be the case every offseason). The defense has potential and has shown flashes, but they need to take tremendous strides if this team ever wants to get back into the postseason. Trayvon Mullen, recently anointed starter, has been among the few bright spots on defense as of late.

Mullen registered his last interception back against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 11, and that was the game-sealing interception with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter. Mullen has played strong even as the Raiders endured a four-game losing streak (last week he registered six solo tackles and had three pass deflections).

On Sunday against Philip Rivers, the opportunity awaits for Mullen to register his second career interception. In their last matchup, Rivers looked erratic and gave the ball away through the air three times to the Raiders defense. Even at “home,” Rivers is always a safe bet to be interception prone. Against their division rival, Mullen gets the better of Rivers for his second interception of the season.
