Stud: Derek Carr

With the season on the line, the playoffs still in the cross-hairs, and the stench of a home loss that was stolen by a horrible call still fresh in his mind, Derek Carr came out in what the Raiders viewed as one last home game and played a great game. In the contest, Carr completed 26-of-30 passes, throwing for 291 yards and a score.

In addition, Carr also found the end zone with his feet, scoring a huge touchdown in the second quarter, a rushing touchdown that was his third of the season. Carr’s 9.7 average and 118.2 passer rating helped propel the Raiders to a 24-14 victory over the Chargers and with the help of a few key losses around the league, kept the Raiders playoff hopes alive for another week.

With DeAndre Washington carrying the ball extremely well and Carr’s smart decision-making and ability to get the ball to his most reliable playmakers, the Raiders offense was humming. Guys like Jalen Richard, Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow and even Tyrell Williams allowed for the offense to maintain time of possession and control the football as the Raiders maintained control for over half of the game.
