With a playoff spot on the line, the Oakland Raiders invade Empower Field at Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos in their final regular season game.

Derek Carr and the Oakland Raiders will travel to Denver this Sunday with a chance to lock up the final spot in the AFC Playoffs. Of course, they have to get a ton of help from other teams, but there is an opportunity for them to actually make the playoffs heading into Week 17, and that is not something that has happened too often since 2002.

For the Raiders, this has been an up and down season, one that saw them turn a lot of heads during their 6-4 start, and then have everyone in the media bail on them over the last four games. However, they took care of business this past Sunday on the “road” against the Los Angeles Chargers, and will be looking to do the same this Sunday.

Denver counters with a team that is playing much better football as of late, as they have won three of their four games started by rookie Drew Lock. The team’s second round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, Lock has looked very comfortable under center, something this Raiders pass rush has to change in Week 17.

Overall, this has all the makings of another incredible game between these two rivals, as the Broncos will be looking to put a nail in the Raiders final season in Oakland. The Raiders will be looking to do their part on Sunday, which is all they can control.

Rookie running back Josh Jacobs has surgery for a skin infection on Christmas Day, and his status for the game on Sunday is still up in the air, not because of the infection, but because of his shoulder. If he cannot go, expect another huge helping of DeAndre Washington, who rushed for 85 yards on 23 carries, scoring once in his turn as the feature back this past Sunday.

No matter what happens on Sunday, this has been a wild final season in Oakland, and many questions remain as to what the team will look like in their first season in Las Vegas. They made tremendous steps in the right direction this season, and with two more first round draft picks next April, this is a franchise that is definitely trending in the right direction.
