Before everyone comments that the Raiders do not have a second-round pick, yes I know. In this scenario, I believe that the Raiders will trade two of their three third-round picks to move up into the second round, and there is a team atop the second round that is stockpiling picks in 2020 and 20201.

That team is the Miami Dolphins, who would certainly part ways with an early second rounder, especially considering they hold three first round picks.

If Coach Gruden really believes that the Raiders may need a new quarterback, he certainly will not wait until the third round to select one. This is not a regime that is going to use a first round pick on the quarterback position, especially with Derek Carr playing good football in year 2 of Gruden’s offense. Moving up to the second round to take the versatile Jalen Hurts makes so much sense.

Hurts would come in and immediately push Derek Carr, he is completely different than Carr, meaning that Gruden could see what type of quarterback will work best in his offense, and there is no question that Gruden is dying for some flash. Not saying Hurts comes in and replaces Carr, but it never hurts to have someone gunning for your job.
