Oakland Raiders five best games of the past decade
As the decade comes to a close, let’s look back over the last ten seasons and pick the five games the Oakland Raiders played in.
Unfortunately for fans of the Oakland Raiders, the last ten years have not been overly great for the franchise. The Silver and Black have had five different coaches, countless coordinator combinations, and only one winning season that led to a playoff berth. Therefore, the pool of games to pull from is awfully small.
The early 2010’s were marred with a lack of success under Tom Cable, Hue Jackson, and Dennis Allen. Under Cable and Jackson the team reached marks of 8-8, but 4-12 was a far more common occurrence.
The only season with any sort of success for the franchise in the last ten years came in 2016 when the Raiders went 12-4 and earned an appearance in the wild card round. Unfortunately, everyone knows how that one ended as the team lost Derek Carr in Week 16 to a broken leg. Jack Del Rio led the team to some success, but undid it all when he let Bill Musgrave leave.
Now Jon Gruden is trying to bring the team back to the limelight, but that will have to wait for 2020 and beyond.
There were several incredibly memorable games from that 2016 season, the real challenge was finding games from the other seasons that deserve to be on this list as well. Without any further ado, let’s kick this ranking off with some honorable mentions before kicking off the five best games in the last decade.
