2020 full 1st-round NFL mock draft heading into Divisional Round
By Sanjit T.
The 2020 NFL Draft is over three months away, but it is time to unveil our first full first-round mock draft after Wild Card weekend.
The 2020 NFL Draft will take place in Las Vegas this year, and for the local team, the Raiders, they once again hold multiple first round picks. Last year, the Raiders utilized all three of their first rounders to bring in impact players, including Josh Jacobs, who should be the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year.
With the 2019 season wrapping up, the draft scouting process is in full swing. Today, we look at our very first full first-round mock draft for next April.
1. Cincinnati Bengals: QB Joe Burrow, LSU
The Cincinnati Bengals are in the best spot of the 2020 NFL Draft, as they have the No. 1 overall pick and can choose anyone they want. This pick is a no-brainer, as they will pick a franchise quarterback that they hope can lead them to the Super Bowl.
Joe Burrow, the Heisman winner in 2019, is the consensus No. 1 pick. He threw for over 5,200 yards and 55 touchdowns to only six interceptions in 2019. If you didn’t watch him throw seven touchdowns against Oklahoma in the first half of the opening round of the College Football Playoffs, then you must go back and watch.
The IQ of Burrow is his biggest asset. He knows what to do in every situation, and what not to in bad ones. He can make every read and throw. His arm talent is there. The only knock that some scouts will have on him is his arm strength, but that shouldn’t stop the Bengals from drafting him.
2. Washington Redskins: DE, Chase Young, Ohio State
If the positional value didn’t matter, Chase Young would be the No. 1 overall pick. He is that talented. However, since it does matter, he will be the number 2 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. When you look at a prospect, he should be able to do a certain number of things correctly, and in Young’s case, he checks every single box.
He is strong, quick, and a super intelligent prospect. Chase Young is as sure a thing as his former teammate Nick Bosa was last year. New head coach Ron Rivera can solidify his defense with him.
If drafted, Defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio will be thanking both Rivera and owner Daniel Snyder, because Del Rio can coach rookie defensive linemen and help them become Hall of Famers, especially ones selected with the second overall pick. Just take a look back at his history.
In 2002 Del Rio got Julius Peppers with the 2nd pick in the draft, and in 2012 with the 2nd pick in the draft the Broncos drafted Von Miller. Both players are future Hall of Famers.
