- Pick No. 12: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
- Pick No. 19: Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
In his latest mock draft for CBSSports.com, Josh Edwards like the Raiders to replace veteran quarterback Derek Carr with their first of two first round picks. With their No. 12 overall selection, Edwards has the Raiders bringing in Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert, who is fresh off a victory in the Rose Bowl.
Herbert is an excellent NFL prospect, as he has the arm, and athleticism to be a true starter at the next level. Carr is coming off a fine statistical season, but the fan base is getting tired of his inability, or unwillingness to make plays with his legs, so at least half of the fan base would not be sad with this selection.
Later in round one, the Raiders bring in more talent along the defensive line, which took a major step forward this past season. Javon Kinlaw from South Carolina is one of the more versatile defensive linemen in this draft class, and could be used both inside, or even on the edge if need be in Paul Guenther’s system.
